Reference Sensor G4
The reference sensor is an inductive pickup. The sensor is located on the left-hand side of the engine block. The sensor is used to identify TDC of
the number three cylinder.
A notch, 62° before TDC in the counterweight of the crankshaft for the number three cylinder, is used as the reference point. The notch, along with
the reference sensor, generates one signal per crankshaft revolution.
The signal from the reference sensor along with the signal from the Hall Sensor (G40) are used during starting to identify the TDC third cylinder
ignition point.
